  • Peel and cut the potatoes into cubes. Keep them aside.
  • Cut the onions into cubes and separate the layers.
  • In a pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds. Let them crackle.
  • Add the onions and sauté them till they turn golden brown.
  • Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add the potatoes and mix well.
  • Add all the dry spices – coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and salt. Mix well.
  • Cover the pan and let it cook on low flame for 15-20 minutes or till the potatoes are tender.
  • Once the potatoes are cooked, add fresh coriander leaves for garnish.
  • Serve hot with roti or rice.


  • You can add green chillies for a spicier taste.
  • You can also add tomatoes for a tangy taste.
  • To make it more creamy, you can add some fresh cream.
