How To make Moong Flour Pesarattu? | Instant Moong Flour Pesarattu Recipe

Moong flour pesarattu is a traditional South Indian breakfast recipe made with a batter of moong dal flour, spices, and herbs. This dish is not only delicious but also packed with nutrition, making it an excellent option for health-conscious individuals. In this recipe, we will use moong flour instead of whole moong dal to save time and effort. Here’s how you can make moong flour pesarattu at home:

Here’s a simple recipe to make kache kele ki tikki at home:

  • 1 cup moong flour
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • 1/4 cup semolina
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup curry leaves, finely chopped
  • 1/2 inch ginger, grated
  • 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking

  • In a mixing bowl, combine moong flour, rice flour, and semolina. Add enough water to make a smooth batter with a pouring consistency. The batter should neither be too thick nor too thin.
  • Add chopped onions, coriander leaves, curry leaves, grated ginger, green chilies, and salt to the batter. Mix well and let it rest for 10-15 minutes. Resting the batter helps in the fermentation process and improves the flavor of the pesarattu.
  • Heat a non-stick tawa or griddle on medium heat. Once the tawa is hot, pour a ladle full of batter onto the tawa and spread it in a circular motion to make a thin pancake. If you find it challenging to spread the batter, you can use a spoon to spread it evenly.
  • Drizzle some oil around the edges of the pancake and in the center. Cover with a lid and cook for 2-3 minutes or until the bottom of the pancake turns golden brown.
  • Flip the pesarattu using a spatula and cook for another minute or until the other side is cooked.
  • Remove the pesarattu from the tawa and serve hot with coconut chutney or tomato chutney.

  • You can adjust the quantity of green chilies according to your taste preference. If you prefer a mild taste, use only one green chili or skip it altogether.
  • You can also add grated carrots, grated coconut, or chopped spinach to the batter to make it more nutritious.
  • Use a non-stick tawa or griddle to make pesarattu as it prevents the batter from sticking to the pan.
  • Serve the pesarattu hot as it tastes best when it’s fresh.

Moong flour pesarattu is an easy-to-make and healthy breakfast recipe that is perfect for busy mornings. With the goodness of moong dal, it is a great source of protein and dietary fiber. You can customize this recipe by adding your favorite vegetables and spices. Serve it with coconut chutney or tomato chutney for a delicious and satisfying meal.
