  • 1/4 cup of chopped almonds
  • 1/4 cup of chopped pistachios
  • 12-15 modak molds
  • Silver leaf (optional)

Instructions

  • Heat a heavy-bottomed pan on medium heat and add ghee to it.
  • Once the ghee has melted, add the grated khoya to it and mix well.
  • Cook the khoya for 3-4 minutes, stirring continuously, until it starts to turn slightly brown.
  • Add the powdered sugar to the pan and mix well.
  • Gradually add milk to the pan and continue stirring until the mixture comes together.
  • Add the cardamom powder and chopped nuts to the mixture and mix well.
  • Cook the mixture for another 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously, until it starts to come away from the sides of the pan.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool down for a few minutes.
  • Grease the modak molds with a little ghee.
  • Take a small amount of the mixture and press it into the modak mold, making sure to fill the mold completely.
  • Repeat this process with the remaining mixture and molds.
  • Once all the molds are filled, place them in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to an hour to set.
  • Once the modaks have set, gently remove them from the molds.
  • If desired, decorate the modaks with silver leaf before serving.
