How To make Chicken Salna? | Instant Chicken Salna Recipe

Chicken Salna is a popular South Indian dish that is loved by people all around the world. It is a spicy and tangy chicken curry that is perfect for those who love spicy food. This recipe is easy to make and is perfect for any occasion.

Here is a breakfast recipe that is easy to prepare and delicious to eat.

Ingredients

For the chicken:

  • 500g of boneless chicken cut into small pieces
  • 1 tbsp of ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp of red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp of cumin powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp of oil

For the salna:

  • 2 onions finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp of ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp of red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp of cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp of coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp of oil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 green cardamoms
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 tsp of fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp of black peppercorns
  • 2 tbsp of coriander leaves finely chopped

For the garnish:

    • 1/4 cup of mint leaves
    • 1/4 cup of coriander leaves
    • 2 green chillies
    • 1 tsp of lemon juice

Instructions:

  • In a bowl, marinate the chicken with ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
  • In a pan, heat oil and add the marinated chicken. Fry until the chicken turns golden brown. Once done, remove the chicken from the pan and keep it aside.
  • In the same pan, add oil and bay leaf, green cardamom, cloves, cinnamon stick, star anise, fennel seeds, and black peppercorns. Saute for a few seconds.
  • Add onions and ginger garlic paste. Fry until the onions turn translucent
  • Add the chopped tomatoes, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
  • Add the fried chicken to the pan and mix well.
  • Add water to the pan and let it cook for 15-20 minutes on low heat. Stir occasionally.
  • Once the chicken is cooked, add the chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
  • In a blender, add mint leaves, coriander leaves, green chillies, and lemon juice. Blend until it becomes a smooth paste.
  • Add the blended paste to the chicken salna and mix well.
  • Cook for a few more minutes until the salna becomes thick.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice, parathas, or rotis.
