  • Idlis – 12-15 (leftover idlis work best)
  • Capsicum – 1 medium-sized (finely chopped)
  • Onion – 1 medium-sized (finely chopped)
  • Garlic – 4-5 cloves (finely chopped)
  • Green Chilli – 2-3 (finely chopped)
  • Tomato Ketchup – 3 tablespoons
  • Soy Sauce – 2 tablespoons
  • Red Chilli Sauce – 1 tablespoon
  • Vinegar – 1 tablespoon
  • Salt – to taste
  • Sugar – 1 teaspoon
  • Cornflour – 1 tablespoon
  • Water – 1 cup
  • Oil – 2 tablespoons


  • Cut the leftover idlis into small pieces and keep aside.
  • In a bowl, mix cornflour and water and keep aside.
  • In a pan, heat oil and add chopped garlic and green chilli. Sauté for a few seconds.
  • Add finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
  • Add finely chopped capsicum and sauté for 2-3 minutes until it becomes slightly soft.
  • Add tomato ketchup, soy sauce, red chilli sauce, vinegar, salt, and sugar. Mix well.
  • Add water and mix well. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Add the cornflour-water mixture and stir continuously until the sauce becomes thick and shiny.
  • Add the chopped idlis to the sauce and mix well until the idlis are coated with the sauce.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
