Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/4 cup oil or ghee
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • Water, as needed
  • Butter or ghee, for serving

Instructions:

  • In a mixing bowl, add the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, and red chilli powder. Mix well.
  • Add the yogurt, oil or ghee, sugar, and chopped coriander leaves to the bowl. Mix well.
  • Add water as needed to form a soft dough.
  • Knead the dough for a few minutes and cover it with a damp cloth. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat a tandoor or oven to 250°C.
  • Divide the dough into small balls.
  • Take one ball and roll it out into a circle of about 1/4 inch thickness.
  • Place the rolled-out naan on a baking tray or tandoor and cook for 2-3 minutes or until the naan puffs up.
  • Remove the naan from the tandoor or oven and place it on a clean surface.
  • Crush the naan with your hands to create a chur chur texture.
  • Brush the naan with butter or ghee and serve hot with your favourite curry.
