  • Puffed rice (4 cups)
  • Onions (2, finely chopped)
  • Tomatoes (2, finely chopped)
  • Green chillies (2, finely chopped)
  • Coriander leaves (a handful, finely chopped)
  • Peanuts (1/2 cup)
  • Fried gram dal (1/2 cup)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Lemon juice (2 tbsp)
  • Sev (1/2 cup)
  • Oil (2 tbsp)


  • Take a large mixing bowl and add the puffed rice to it. Crush the puffed rice slightly using your hands. This will make it easier to mix the other ingredients.
  • Add the finely chopped onions, tomatoes, and green chillies to the mixing bowl. Mix all the ingredients well.
  • Next, add the peanuts and fried gram dal to the mixing bowl. Mix well.
  • Add salt to taste and mix well.
  • Add the chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Squeeze the lemon juice over the mixture and mix well.
  • Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan.
  • Add the puffed rice mixture to the pan and mix well.
  • Fry the mixture for a few minutes on low heat.
  • Once the mixture is heated through, turn off the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Once the mixture has cooled down, add the sev and mix well.
  • Your churumuri is now ready to be served.


  • You can also add grated carrots, grated coconut, or chopped cucumber to the mixture for added flavor and texture.
  • If you don’t have sev, you can use any other crunchy snack like fried papad, potato chips, or even crushed kurkure.
  • You can adjust the spice levels according to your preference by adding more or fewer green chillies.
  • Make sure to use fresh ingredients for the best taste.
  • If you want to make the churumuri in advance, you can mix all the ingredients except the sev and store it in an airtight container. Add the sev just before serving to maintain its crunchiness.
