Jaggery Jamun is a delicious Indian dessert that is easy to make and loved by many. Made from juicy jamun fruit, this dessert is coated in a sweet, sticky jaggery syrup. In this recipe, we will guide you through the process of making jaggery jamun from scratch.

Here is a breakfast recipe that is easy to prepare and delicious to eat.

Ingredients

    • 500g ripe jamun fruit
    • 1 cup khoya/mawa (dried whole milk)
    • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (maida)
    • 1/4 tsp baking powder
    • 1 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
    • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
    • Oil, for deep frying

For the Jaggery Syrup:

    • 1 cup jaggery
    • 1 cup water
    • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder

Instructions:

  • To make the jaggery syrup, add the jaggery and water to a pan and heat on medium heat until the jaggery dissolves completely. Stir occasionally to prevent the mixture from burning.
  • Once the jaggery dissolves, reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 8-10 minutes, until it thickens slightly.
  • Add the cardamom powder to the syrup and turn off the heat. Keep the syrup aside.
  • Wash and deseed the jamun fruit. Add the jamun fruit to a blender or food processor and blend until it becomes a smooth puree.
  • Heat ghee in a pan on medium heat. Add the jamun puree to the pan and cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the khoya to the pan and mix well with the jamun puree. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the mixture becomes thick.
  • Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool down. Once cooled, add the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and cardamom powder to the mixture and mix well.
  • Knead the mixture until it becomes smooth and forms a dough.
  • Divide the dough into small equal-sized portions and shape them into small balls.
  • Heat oil in a pan on medium heat. Once the oil is hot, reduce the heat to low and add the jamun balls to the oil.
  • Fry the jamun balls until they turn golden brown, stirring occasionally to ensure they cook evenly. Remove from the oil and drain the excess oil.
  • Add the fried jamun balls to the jaggery syrup and let them soak in the syrup for at least 30 minutes.
  • Serve the jaggery jamun warm or chilled, garnished with chopped nuts if desired.

And that’s it! Follow these simple steps to make delicious jaggery jamun at home. Enjoy!
