  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp corn flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • 2 tbsp yogurt
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Oil for deep frying
  • 1 cup chickpeas, boiled
  •  1/2 cup onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup tomatoes, finely chopped
  •  1/2 cup coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp chaat masala
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Tamarind chutney and green chutney for topping
  • Sev and pomegranate seeds for garnish


  • In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, corn flour, baking powder, baking soda, turmeric powder, and cardamom powder. Mix well.
  • Add the yogurt and water to the dry ingredients and whisk until smooth. Add the lemon juice and whisk again.
  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fill a jalebi dispenser or a piping bag with the batter. Make round spirals of the batter in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crisp. Drain on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, add the chickpeas, onions, tomatoes, and coriander leaves. Mix well.
  • Add chaat masala, red chili powder, roasted cumin powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • To assemble the chaat, place the jalebis on a serving plate. Spoon the chickpea mixture over the jalebis.
  • Drizzle tamarind chutney and green chutney on top of the chickpea mixture.
  • Garnish with sev and pomegranate seeds.
  • Serve immediately.
