How To make Kache Kele Ki Tikki? | Instant Kache Kele Ki Tikki Recipe

Kache kele ki tikki is a popular snack from North India made with raw bananas. It is a vegetarian and vegan-friendly dish that is easy to make and requires very few ingredients. Kache kele ki tikki is a perfect snack for a party or a gathering and can be served with chutney or ketchup.

Here’s a simple recipe to make kache kele ki tikki at home:

Ingredients

  • 3 medium-sized raw bananas (kachcha kela)
  • 1/2 cup boiled and mashed potatoes (aloo)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for binding)
  • 2 green chillies (hari mirch), finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger (adrak), grated
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder (lal mirch powder)
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves (dhaniya patta)
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  • Take the raw bananas and peel them. Cut them into small pieces and put them in a pressure cooker along with a cup of water. Cook the bananas for 2 whistles.
  • Once the bananas are cooked, remove them from the pressure cooker and mash them well using a fork or a masher.
  • Add the mashed potatoes, breadcrumbs (if using), green chillies, ginger, cumin seeds, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, coriander leaves and salt to the mashed bananas. Mix everything well.
  • Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into a small round tikki. Repeat the process until all the mixture is used up.
  • Heat oil in a pan on medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the tikkis to the pan.
  • Fry the tikkis until they are golden brown on both sides. Remove them from the pan using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
  • Serve the kache kele ki tikki hot with your favorite chutney or ketchup.

Tips

  • Make sure the raw bananas are not overcooked. Overcooked bananas will become mushy and will not hold their shape when mixed with other ingredients.
  • If the mixture is too sticky, add more breadcrumbs to bind it together.
  • You can also add finely chopped onions and grated carrots to the mixture for extra flavor and nutrition.
