In this recipe, we will show you how to make Dahi Vada in a pluck style, which is a classic method of preparing the dish.

Here is a breakfast recipe that is easy to prepare and delicious to eat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Urad Dal (split black lentils)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  •  1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • Oil for frying
  • 2 cups plain yogurt
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp chaat masala
  • 1/2 cup tamarind chutney
  • 1/2 cup mint chutney
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup sev (fried gram flour noodles)

Instructions:

  • Soak the Urad Dal in water for 4-5 hours or overnight. Drain the water and grind the lentils to a fine paste. You can add a little water if needed to get the right consistency.
  • Add salt, baking powder, and cumin seeds to the lentil paste and mix well.
  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Drop spoonfuls of the lentil mixture into the hot oil and fry until golden brown. Drain the fried vadas on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  • To prepare the yogurt sauce, whisk the plain yogurt until smooth. Add salt, sugar, roasted cumin powder, red chili powder, and chaat masala to the yogurt and mix well.
  • To assemble the dish, take some warm water in a bowl and add the fried vadas to it. Let the vadas soak in the water for 2-3 minutes.
  • Take out the soaked vadas from the water and gently squeeze out the excess water. Arrange the vadas on a serving dish.
  • Pour the spiced yogurt sauce over the vadas, making sure they are all coated well.
  • Drizzle tamarind chutney and mint chutney over the yogurt-coated vadas.
  • Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves and chopped onions over the vadas.
  • Finally, sprinkle sev over the top of the vadas.
  • Your pluck style classic Dahi Vada is ready to serve. Enjoy this delicious snack with family and friends.
